You can still get car finance without credit history, but it does make the process trickier. This is because lenders usually like to see proof of your credit history so they can build a picture of what you will be like as a customer. It isn’t impossible though, and one way you can help things along is to get a guarantor on the agreement.

A guarantor is usually a family member or someone close to you, who will put their name on the agreement too. This means that if you do not keep up with your repayments, they will have agreed to step in and make the payments on your behalf.

For lenders, this means that there is more security in the deal and that you are less of a risk. For you, as a customer, it means better rates and having a guarantor can even strengthen your credit profile if you stick to the repayments.
